Conservatories Edinburgh, Get A Quote

Edinburgh Window Company supplies and fits conservatories across Edinburgh and the surrounding Lothians, giving homeowners a proper extra room rather than a bolt-on afterthought. A well-built conservatory adds usable space to your home and, done properly, becomes somewhere you actually want to spend time in all year round.

Every conservatory we fit is designed around your house and your garden. We talk through what you want the room to do before anything else, so the shape, size and materials all work for your situation rather than coming off a shelf.

What styles of conservatory can I choose from?

There are several established styles to pick from, and each suits different houses and different plots. A Victorian conservatory with its curved front and faceted bay works well on older Edinburgh tenements and terraces. An Edwardian design gives you a more rectangular floor plan, which tends to make the room easier to furnish. A lean-to sits neatly against a bungalow or a flat-roofed extension where height is limited.

If you want something with a bit more weight and presence, an orangery might suit you better. These have a larger solid roof section with a central lantern light, so they feel more like a genuine room than a traditional conservatory. We also offer P-shape and L-shape designs for larger plots, and fully tiled sunrooms for homeowners who want something that feels like a proper extension rather than a glazed structure.

What materials and glazing do you use?

The frames we use are uPVC, aluminium or timber depending on your preference and your property. All glazing is either double or triple glazed, with energy-efficient glass that carries an A or A+ rating. This matters in Edinburgh especially, where the weather puts real demands on any glazed space.

The roof is where a lot of conservatories fall short. Old polycarbonate panels let in too much summer heat and lose warmth in winter. We fit high-performance glazed roofs or solid tiled roofs that keep the temperature comfortable without needing a separate heating system to compensate. Your conservatory will be usable in January as well as July.

Will I need planning permission?

Most conservatories in Edinburgh fall within permitted development rights, which means no planning application is needed. There are exceptions, particularly for listed buildings, properties in conservation areas, or builds that exceed certain size thresholds. We check all of this for you as part of the quoting process, at no extra cost.

All our installations meet building regulations as standard. You will receive the relevant documentation on completion, which you will need if you come to sell your home.

How long does the installation take?

It depends on the size and complexity of what you are having fitted, but most standard conservatories take between five and ten working days to install once the base is in place. Larger orangeries or fully tiled sunrooms can take a little longer. We will give you a realistic timescale before work starts so you can plan around it.

Our fitting teams are based locally, so there is no waiting around for crews to travel up from elsewhere. Any snagging is dealt with quickly rather than being left outstanding for weeks.

What guarantee comes with a new conservatory?

Your conservatory comes with a manufacturer's guarantee covering the frames, glazing units and roofing system. We also provide our own workmanship guarantee on the installation itself. You will receive all guarantee documents in writing once the job is complete.

The key things that are covered include:

  • uPVC, aluminium or timber frames against warping, discolouration and structural failure
  • Double and triple glazed units against seal failure and condensation between panes
  • Roof systems including tiled roofs and glazed roof panels
  • Door and window locks and hinges fitted as part of the conservatory
  • Installation workmanship carried out by our own fitting teams

How much does a conservatory cost, and is a quote free?

Pricing varies depending on size, style, glazing specification and roof type, so we do not publish a single figure. What we can tell you is that a quote from us costs nothing and comes with no pressure to go ahead. Our designer will visit your home, measure up, talk through the options and give you a written quote to consider in your own time.

There is a current sale running which brings costs down considerably from standard prices, so it is worth getting a quote now rather than waiting. To arrange a free home visit anywhere in Edinburgh or the surrounding area, call us on 0131 218 1009. We are happy to answer any questions before you book if you would prefer to talk things through first.
